Improving Access for All: The Deer River Area Health Care Foundation Cornerstone Committee Funds Increase Handicap Accessibility at Essentia Health-Deer River
Deer River, MN January 24, 2017
The Deer River Area Health Care Foundation Board of Directors recently approved a grant of $10,000 from the Cornerstone Employee Giving Fund to add handicap accessible door openers to the main restrooms at Essentia Health- Deer River.
Cornerstone’s mission is to inspire employee participation through giving and is led by a committee comprised of representatives from various departments of the hospital and clinics. Each year, the Cornerstone Committee requests project suggestions from staff members & volunteers. This year, the handicapped door openers were chosen by the Committee as one of the top projects.
“Giving back is really at the core of the healthcare profession. We’re honored to provide employees a way to contribute financially to support the patients, residents, staff and community members served at the healthcare facility. Cornerstone is a great partnership between the Foundation and Essentia Health-Deer River, and we work closely with Administration to help make the projects suggested by the employees come to fruition.” Shares Leah Oslin, Foundation Director.
Since its inception in 2015, the Deer River Area Health Care Foundation Cornerstone Fund has granted over $20,000 to projects that enhance patient and resident care and support providers and staff in their work.
